Our experienced team provide comprehensive veterinary care 7 days a week. We offer a full range of in-house surgery, without the need for referral to external specialist centres.


Nursing manager

Alex has extensive nursing experience gained in Australia over the last 10 years. Alex has a son called Harry and many cats who have adopted her throughout her career.


Veterinary surgeon

Alexis has been with us since 2004. She qualified from Bristol University in 2001. She has 2 daughters; Daisy and Ursula, and a cat. She enjoys music in her spare time and is a drummer in a band. However, being a busy working mum, spare time is minimal!



Alison is a key part of our reception team. She has three children and a cat called Stanley. She is a keen artist in her spare time.



Anne started working for Alder Vets not long after the practice was first established. She dotes on her two grandchildren, her horse and a cocker spaniel called Dexter.


Veterinary surgeon

Ben is from Worcestershire, having qualified from Glasgow University in 2007. After working in Nottingham for 3 years, he took off to Australia for a year. He travelled around and gained experience treating exotic creatures like koala bears! Ben lives with his wife and their cat, Captain Crunch. Ben has a keen interest in reptiles, having kept and bred snakes and a tortoise.



Carly is the latest receptionist to join the Alder Vets team. Carly loves all creatures great and small and can normally be found in the waiting room cuddling all the animals that come in! In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog Poppy.


Veterinary surgeon

Chris is originally from Northumberland, having grown up on a sheep farm. He qualified from Edinburgh University in 2001 and spent most of the last 15 years working in a small animal hospital in Essex, before moving to Guildford in 2011. Chris is married to Lucy and they live with their children, dogs, cat and chickens locally. 



Denise started with us in April 2015, but has a wealth of experience working in other veterinary practices in and around the area. She has 5 children, and a host of grandchildren, and so is an extremely busy lady!


Reception Manager

Jayne has 3 kids, a dog, and a rabbit. She has many roles in the practice, primarily as a receptionist but she also has become more involved in the nursing care of the pets we look after.



Jennifer is Alex’s mum, and Peter’s wife, keeping most of the family at the practice! Jen works occasionally to cover holidays and busy periods.



Jenny is a keen gardener, labrador lover, ex-professional photographer and has a black belt in karate! Jenny started working at Alder vets in 2003.


Veterinary surgeon

Jo qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012, Jo worked at a practice in Andover for 3 years before starting at Alder Vets in May 2015. She has a rescue cat called Bernard and in her spare time enjoys playing hockey and catching up with friends.


Veterinary nurse

Kim originally started working at the practice in the early 80’s. After leaving to have two children, she rejoined us in 2004. Outside surgery hours, Kim finds time to help others with her local community work. She also has many cats!


Louise joined Alder Vets in 2003. She has two Labradors, Remy and Pernod, a tortoise called Foster, and 2 young children.


Practice manager

Lucy, Chris’s wife is highly organised having worked in the City for 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry. She now works part-time to help keep the practice running smoothly.


Veterinary surgeon

Melanie is from New Zealand originally. She started working at Alder Vets as a locum in 2004 and liked us so much she couldn’t leave! Mel loves all creatures great and small and is an excellent general practitioner. In her spare time, Mel loves knitting, and personal fitness.


Veterinary nurse

Nikki came to the practice 20 years ago. Nikki is a very experienced nurse who has been working in veterinary practices for over 20 years. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dogs, Harry and Mia and riding her horse.



Peter is Alex’s dad and is responsible for masterminding the many improvements we have made to the premises and keeping everything ship shape. He has recently taken on a 3 legged stray cat called Cino that was brought into the surgery.



Rose has been working in the practice for over 10 years. Rose enjoys running in her spare time and looking after her Grandchildren.



Susan is Louise’s mum, and works occasionally to cover holidays and busy periods. She has various pets of her own, and a recently retired husband to deal with, as well as looking after her grandchildren.


Veterinary nurse

Verity has been with us for 7 years. In her spare time, Verity likes taking part in charity events having recently completed the Three Peaks Challenge. She has a son, Lennon a cat called Louis, and a tortoise called Gok.


Veterinary surgeon

Vicky joined the team in 2016 having previously worked in a small animal practice in Cranleigh. Vicky is an experienced keyhole surgeon and performs laparoscopic surgery at our sister practice in Haslemere. Vicky also has an interest in diagnostic imaging, specifically ultrasound scanning. In her spare time she enjoys dog walking with Boris, her Battersea rescue.


Veterinary nurse

Zillah is the latest nurse to join the Alders team. She has been nursing for 15 years. Zillah has a beagle and a cat as well as two lovely boys. In the little spare time she has she likes to go climbing.
